stained glass, stained glass panel

Growing up in Chicago I was a bit spoiled, it didn't take much hunting to find stained glass. Whether it was something fairly simple like the stained glass windows above our fire place, or something more elaborate at one of the many churches. Chicago in general has some great architecture and a lot of those buildings have fascinating histories. Living in the suburbs I don't see stained glass as often as I used to. The homes aren't as old as the ones in the city, which is why there is a lack of stained glass. Which is why when I get my own place, I would love to incorporate stained glass in there some how.

I know a few artists, one has artwork on display at the Louvre and the Smithsonian (I don't remember off hand if she is in any other art museum), while another friend isn't as well known, but does different kind of artwork. This particular friend knows how to make stained glass and has the equipment for it. I've often thought of asking her to make me some kind of stained glass panel for my future home. But I don't know where I'd want it right now. Ah well, I have more than enough time to think about it. Even if I don't ask my friend to create something for me, I've seen some great stained glass pieces online that I have my eye on.
