I have a stained glass shade hanging in my kitchen. Underneath this stained glass shade is a large round glass globe containing the light bulb. When I bought my home I was informed by the then owners this stained glass kitchen shade was a true piece of Tiffany glass. While I had a rudimentary knowledge of Tiffany glass I really did not give this statement by the previous owners much thought. Sure, a real Tiffany glass piece would be nice, but it was not until recently I decided to go online and see if this stained glass shade was in fact a original piece of Tiffany glass. During my online research I learned plenty about Tiffany glass and the many fakes, or spin-offs, purporting to be original Tiffany glass. On one site I was seeking information and stumbled across a really cool gadget I thought others might find interesting. A high tech metal detector. When I was a kid my dad bought a metal detector and we would visit various old places seeking "treasure" left by pirates and outlaws. We also would include the metal detector as required luggage on vacations to the ocean so we could look for old gold coins washed up by storm's. Our finds never really amounted to much, just the occasional old coin, plenty of new coins, and an occasional ring, but it was great fun when the needle on the metal detector jumped and the detector buzzed alerting us to a possible buried treasure chest. I really like this product and it has rekindled a desire to buy it and go treasure hunting again. Although I kind of got off track with my research for Tiffany glass when I stumbled across the metal detector my quest will go on to see if what I have is in fact an original Tiffany Glass shade.
