stained glass, decorative glassYesterday I enrolled in my first class for learning to make decorative glass. There is an art supply store down the street and they offer winter classes for various kinds of art work, and I have always loved stained glass, so it's time for me to learn to make my own. We had to buy some supplies, including these paint brushes, a set of paints, and a few glass items for practice. The brushes were pretty inexpensive, and I tried them out at home the night I got my supplies and they were pretty decent. Since my mom likes to paint and goes through a lot of brushes, I asked the instructor where he gets them, and he told me that the shop orders them online, like many of their other supplies. They ordered the 3 Pack Artist Paint Brushes (Pack of 144) anticipating a busy winter season and thought that these brushes would be be good sellers, anyway. Since I'm always on the hunt for a bargain, I asked him what the website was where they ordered them and he told me it was at Circuit Values located at www.circuitvalues.com.

When I got home, I looked the site up and found a lot of things that I could buy. Sometimes websites sell to the general public, and there were a lot of cool things on this site being sold at a discount, not just art supplies for retail stores. I found a number of things that I could use from Circuit Values and ordered a few things I'd been wanting for my digital camera, like a tripod and a new carrying case.

Once I get my decorative glass projects mastered, I'll take pictures with my digital camera and post them on sites where people can sell things they make. I'm sure it'll take me weeks to learn to make decorative glass objects attractive enough to sell, and I'm not feeling rushed at all in learning this new skill. I have long admired stained glass and think that learning to paint decorative glass is a good start in learning to make stained glass panels. We have windows in the house that don't have the best views, so masking them with stained glass panels would be a wonderful way to improve the appearance of them.

If I could learn to make the stained glass panels myself, I'd be so thrilled. One of my sisters is a mural painter and has done wonders to her large and once very boring back yard by painting beautiful scenery on some of the fence walls. She's even decorated the mailbox and garage door with murals to break up the drab elevation of their home, so if she can do it, I think I can too.
