I really like the look of a stained glass window. They are so very intricate and delicate looking. I know the artists put a lot of work and time into each one. Since I like these beautiful pieces of art, I wanted to know more about them. I looked up these lovely glass windows and read a lot of articles about them. I found that one way they get stained glass is to add metallic salts to the glass when they make it. Another way is to paint the glass and fuse it onto the glass in a kiln. This lovely decorative glass really took off in the 10th or 11th century, and is still going strong. Many of these glass windows are still intact even since the Middle Ages! What a testament to the durability and beauty of this beautiful glass artwork. I love driving by churches and other buildings that use stained glass windows so I can look at the beauty of the works. I'm amazed at how many other items are now made with it, like lamps, vases, suncatchers and other decorative accent art.
