decorative glass, stained glass
My entire life I have wanted a Grandfather Clock.  It all started when I fell in love with my Aunt's Grandfather Clock at the ripe old age of eight-years-old.  Aunt Doris loved antiques, and she had an old, very tall, exquisite Grandfather Clock in her living room.  It made wonderful sounds on the hour, and I could not keep my hands off it.  I vowed when I grew up, I too would have such a clock.  At last, I have a home large enough to accommodate such a clock, and I began looking for a new one.

This entailed a search that carried me through malls, Mom and Pop Stores, you name it...However, I was surprised to find a great buy online at an ecommerce store called Circuit Values located at http://www.circuitvalues.com.  To be honest, I was looking for for my husband a 40-Channel CB Radio.  When I discovered this site; but, it had so many high quality discounted products I was amazed.  Among the merchandise I found was a beautiful Grandfather Clock...at a price I could afford.  The size was right as well!  It had some beautiful decorative glass, and was exactly what I had in mind for my own living room.

I have stained glass windows in the front door, and a Tiffany glass lamp in the living room.  There is opalescent glass in the doors of the kitchen cabinets; so, having decorative glass as part of a Grandfather Clock only enhanced the entire room.

When the clock came, it fit so well, and was as if it had "come home."  It took me back in time, and I have enjoyed hearing the lovely sounds as it chimes every hour and once every half hour.  Since we do most of our living in the den, kitchen or bedrooms, the sounds do not drive my husband wild as I was afraid they might.  On the other hand, I think my cat has gotten a little tired of hearing the chiming.

When my grandchildren come to visit, I have noticed my granddaughter, Kendra, looking at the clock.  She seems to enjoy it as much as I did when I was a child at Aunt Doris' home.  I hope she feels the same enchantment I did, and I encourage her to play in the room often.  She likes to pretend, and the clock seems to be a part of her make-believe world. I simply hope she learns to love the look of the clock, the beautiful decorative glass, the sounds of the chimes, and the beauty of imagination.  Perhaps I can find her a clock with a stained glass panel...she would love that!
