stained glass I was reminded of the beauty of stained glass just moments ago after looking over to a glass table pushed off to the side of the living room for carpet cleaners who just left. The table was moved in the perfect position, under an open window so the sun could shine down on top and cask a great rainbow onto the carpet. I wonder if stained glass was inspired hundreds of years ago by the spectacular color blend of a rainbow. It makes sense to me. Maybe that is the secret story behind stained glass. I know it became popular, as an ornament of tribute to God in the Catholic Church but there had to be something, which inspired that first glass worker who created a stained glass picture.

Maybe the human attraction towards rainbows is why we all appreciate beautiful stained glass displays. I have distinct memories of staring in awe at the large stained glass windows in St. Mark’s Cathedral in New York City. This is the most amazing church I have ever stepped into and it is right in the heart of the city. Worth a visit to anyone in the Big Apple.
