One of my favorite things is decorative glass and my sister brought me some from her trip to Italy a few years ago. I just love it. She suggested that I go to Italy to see the decorative glass first hand, so today when I was looking at new digital cameras, I ran across this DVD about going to Italy and showing many of the places in Italy renowned for the decorative glass that artisans there make. There is a special segment on the glass factories near Venice, which is where my sister and her husband spent a week, so I ordered it. I like to do a lot of research when I'm planning a big trip like going to Italy, so every little bit helps. The SelectMedia Travel to Italy DVD will be a lot of fun to watch, and after I've seen it a few times, I'll send it to my sister so she can review where they visited on their month long tour of this fascinating country.
Besides being able to buy the decorative glass I want, a trip to Italy would be a culinary delight. My sister told me that the food they ate in Italy is entirely different from Italian food here in mainstream restaurants. Since I really love food and cooking, I might even research spending a few days taking cooking classes there, too, although my main reason for going would be to look for gorgeous decorative glass. But it would be fun to learn to make some of the food that is hard to find here at reasonable prices. I'd love to be able to make my own prosciutto, and if I could learn how over there, it would save us a lot of money at home where the prices are off the charts.
I found this DVD on Italy at Circuit Values located at http://www.circuitvalues.com, a great site for all kinds of things. I'm still reviewing new digital cameras at the site, but when I saw the DVD for Italy, I thought it would be a great addition to my DVD library. I'm an information junkie, so the more I know about the cities in Italy where I might get some decorative glass, the better I'll be able to use my time in Italy wisely. A number of years ago I visited a decorative glass factory in New York state and it was fascinating. I have also been to a factory in Santa Fe, NM, where they blow glass and give public demonstrations, and that was memorable, as well. It just makes sense that I go to Italy to see their vast and renowned collection of decorative glass and have a great time, too.
